The Investiture Luncheon

This time around, the investiture luncheon was held in the historic capital of Malta, Valletta. The rooftop restaurant of the Castille Hotel was packed with Lazarite members and their guests, hailing from countries as diverse as Malta, Italy, Tripoli, Canada, England, Wales, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Sweden, Austria and others.
The Grand Prior, the Rt. Revd. Mons Anton Gauci ECLJ, said the opening prayers and the head table was indeed a living symbol of a hands-on Alliance of the various branches of Saint Lazarus. The Vicar General of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, Chev. Reginald Attard GCLJ, headed the portly deputation from our allied brethren.
The Master General of the Order congratulated the Grand Priory for their great work throughout the year 2005 and also referred to the convention of the Saint Lazarus Alliance. The Chancellor of the Grand Priory, Dr. Massimo J Ellul, gave a detailed resume of the Grand Priory's work throughout the year.
The Treasurer of the Commandery of Westminster, Consoeur Rhiannon Seydel OLJ was given a bouquet of flowers since the luncheon fell on her birthday. The Grand Priory also gave another bouquet to the wife-to-be of the Chancellor of the Grand Priory of England, who will be taking their sacred vows in the ensuing weeks.
A charity collection was organised under the watchful eye of the Grand Priory's Almoner, Confrere Ronald Ellul OLJ.
Truly a luncheon to remember!
