After the superb staging of Umberto Giordano’s opera “Fedora” at the Aurora Opera Theatre, the Leone Philharmonic Society of Victoria, Gozo, have teamed up with local entertainment management specialists M & E Management Group so as to offer the Gozitan public and all Maltese families wishing to celebrate the end of 2005 in Gozo, a welcome surprise brought over specifically for the Aurora Opera Theatre from Italy.
In fact, the Aurora Opera Theatre will be offering a unique show on the 30th of December 2005, at 1930hrs, by a twenty – strong dance troupe hailing from Reggio Calabria, Italy. The Dance Group Sintezi, led by Mro. Armando Gatto, accompanied by Italian singers, will be staging a musical medley, aptly named Musical – Che Passione! The show, which was put up this year in Italy as a musical tribute to Pope John Paul the Second, will feature a magnificent mix of dancing, music, costumes, light and sound effects and some superb acting by award winning Italian group Sintezi. The performance is in fact a collage of the most popular musicals of all time, including Jesus Christ, Superstar; Grease and Moulin Rouge. The show will also feature a number of original effects projected on stage by means of a big screen, which will doubly enhance the rendition of the musicals.
This wonderfully choreographed collage of musicals, interspersed with Latin American, modern and Jazz dancing, will automatically create a variety which will satisfy audiences of all ages. Sintezi Danza was founded ten years ago in Reggio Calabria and has been awarded a number of prestigious awards all over mainland Italy. The group has staged more than 200 performances in Italy and in other countries. Mro. Armando Gatto describes the show as “a musical of love for all the family.”
The Leone Philharmonic Society possesses a proven track record when it comes for family entertainment. Society secretary Mario Gatt stated that “the Society has been for some months now racking its brains on how to provide a musical performance for the public, since musicals have a massive appeal to Gozitan and Maltese families alike. When the opportunity came not just to have one, but a mix of the top three musicals in one performance – and produced by a top Italian personality in the genre in question – we just couldn’t say no!”
This event will be staged with the collaboration of the Municipality of Bagnara Calabra, Italy and the Victoria Local Council. Proceeds from the event will go to the Saint Lazarus Hospice Foundation.
