The Investiture of the Sacred Medical Order of the Knights of Hope - Nevis (June 2017)
Between the 8th and 10th of June 2017, the officers and members of SMOKH congregated on this beautiful Caribbean island for the annual monastic congress and solemn investiture of the Sacred Medical Order of the Knights of Hope, a very active Hospitaller chivalric organisation which is a fully fledged member of the United Grand Priories of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.
The investiture was conducted by the head of the Order, H.E. the Chevalier Charles McWilliams and his team of grand officers. A number of Priors and Grand Priors of the Order of Saint Lazarus, including those of Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, Isle of Man, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis Island and others were also in attendance.
The investiture, held in St. James Anglican Church, also saw a number of members and officers joining the Order. Chevalier Charles McWilliams also gave the members and postulants a unique experience during this investiture due to his timing the official opening of the first ever Hospitaller Museum in the Caribbean during the investiture week.
The investiture also saw a number of personalities being awarded Merit within the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus. This included the Honorary Grand Prior of the Dominican Republic, the Hon. Dolly Nin, Deputy Minister for Health and Social Solidarity within the government of the Dominican Republic.
