The Investiture of the Grand Priory of the United States: September 2016
The 6th US Grand Priory Investiture was held on the 17th of September 2016 at the beautiful Melkite Catholic Church of Saint Anna in Los Angeles, CA. It was indeed a beautiful ceremony, with a packed congregation giving homage to the 30 postulants and Companionates of Merit of the Order.
The investiture service was led by the Grand Chancellor and Grand Registrar of the United Grand Priories, the latter, Chev. Christopher Chambers, also in his capacity as Chancellor of the US Grand Priory. The Secretary of the US Grand Priory was in charge of logistics. Various personalities were in attendance, including the Grand Prior of Ethiopia, His Imperial Highness Prince Ermias Sahle Sellasie, Knight Grand Cross of Merit of the Companionate of Merit of the Order and his Lady wife, Princess Sala; the representative of HM King Kigeli V of Rwanda, the Grand Prior of Rwanda and also Knight Grand Cross of Merit of the Companionate of Merit of the Order and other distinguished guests.
The investiture service focused on the need to aid and assist refugees and immigrants and the treasurer of the US Grand Priory delivered a moving speech on his first hand experience in Germany related to this phenomenon.
The Indigenous Priory under the US Grand Priory saw Confrere Jason Rios being appointed as the new Prior during the ceremony. Various journalists including journalists from the Huffington Post were present during the Investiture. The investiture luncheon was also a great success and featured a number of awards given to US personalities from all walks of life. Yet another superb investiture in the United States. The day before the investiture service, a number of officers of the US Grand Priory were invited to a gala dinner in honour of HIH Prince Ermias and his Water Foundation, due to the officers donating extensive amounts of money for the Water Project in Ethiopia.
