Malta – Not so Silent Knights Wow at Mdina (May 2019)
As is common knowledge throughout the Maltese islands, undoubtedly one of the most visual and active Commanderies of the Grand Priory of Malta of the Order is indeed the Projekt-Lazarus Commandery, led by its hard-working Commander, the Chevalier Anthony Galea.
This Commandery combines enthusiastic volunteers who are all steeped into the art of re-enacting the mores and customs of our medieval forefathers in a didactic and edutainment package in order to infuse the love of history and the Hospitaller and philanthropic ethos of our Order to the public in general, especially the little ones. Throughout these years, the Commandery has been invited by all the major Local Councils in their respective national days so as to project their Lazarite wear and indulge the visitors to a taste of medieval chivalry. This is done by various methods, including replica costumes and apparel, sword-fighting, archery, combat demonstrations, medieval siege engines, medieval cooking and food, medieval herbal medicine, medieval trade and other forms of delightful vignettes.
The Commanderies presence in the latest Medieval Mdina Event in May was again a huge success, as this article from the Times of Malta can attest:
