Investiture of the Grand Priory of Jamaica
During the Second International Lazarite Symposium which was held in Nevis Island and Saint Kitts between the 4th and the 8th of June 2014, delegates and postulants of the Order hailing from Jamaica actively participated and flew over for the event in question and the ensuing sacred and solemn investiture which was held at the Saint Thomas Parish church in Nevis.
The Jamaican delegation of the Order, working closely with the Sacred and Medical Order of the Knights of Hope, have been already extensively committed to Hospitaller work in their island, even though their Grand Priory in question was still in formation.
During the investiture service, the Grand Investing Officers of the United Grand Priories of the Order, led by the Grand Chancellor and the Grand Receiver General, officially consecrated the new Grand Priory of Jamaica and appointed Dame Janice Karena Simmonds Fisher as the new Grand Prior of this very active jurisdiction.A number of other postulants from Jamaica were also brought into the Order and received their insignia and brevets of membership. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, not all the approved members of the Grand Priory of Jamaica could attend and thus their brevets and admittance into the Order was undertaken in absentia. The Grand Chancellor thanked the Jamaican team for their incessant zeal to aid and assist the needy within their jurisdiction and personally thanked the new Grand Prior of Jamaica for her commitment.
