Indonesia - Charity Work in Nusa Tenggara Timor (April 2015)
The PPCI has undertaken further work from the previous donation granted by the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem towards the work of PCCI in Nusa Tenggara Timor, Indonesia. Recently, the Council Members of PPCI NTT provided hands-on aid to a group of children in the interior district of Belu in the form of food items to contribute towards their nutritional needs.
In Belu, close to 40 youth and children having various levels of disabilities and special needs were given support. These include polio victims, victims of paralysis, limited mobility, etc. In the capital city of NTT – Kupang, aid was also given to a few adult members to support their start towards the first steps for simple entrepreneurial activities to support themselves. Some financial support was given for them to continue with their small enterprises such as selling simple snack food items.
PPCI hopes that providing some support for adult members to start or continue with some form of economic activity, even if limited and basic aid, can contribute greatly towards the support of their own needs as much as possible. It is therefore totally in harmony with the Order's mission statement of aiding and assisting the vulnerable in this, our 21st Century Hospitaller global operation.
