Germany: Donation for "Christmas Table Burgkunstadt" (December 2018)
To support the Christmas campaign for needy children of the Burgkunstadter Table for the Support of vulnerable people, which was organized for the ninth time by Confrere Sven Dietel, provincial commander of the CSLI Germany, consoeurs and confreres of our Lazarus Order donated a total of 465 Euros for this good cause. 250 small packages with sweets and some gifts were presented to the children.
The money donated came from the proceeds of our autumn investiture in Mannheim. Consoeur Gabriele Neuen DLJ, OMLJ handed out this donation to the chairman of the Board of Bad Dürkheim, Mr. Herbert Pfleger on the 17th of December, being St. Lazarus Day.
The thought behind the "Christmas Table": Not all people have their daily bread - and yet there is plenty of food within our society. The organisers strive for a balance - with volunteers - for the needy in their city. The aim of the organisers is to distribute good quality food to the needy. Quality food that can no longer be used in the economic process. The initiative helps these people overcome a difficult time and thus give them motivation for the future.
"Everyone gives what they can". According to this motto, local bakeries and weekly markets, supermarket chains, car mechanics, graphic designers, car manufacturers, consulting companies get involved - many helpers donate their free time for the idea. A few hours a day, a week, a month - as your personal options allow. Around 32,000 people are involved nationwide as volunteer helpers with their time. The collected food is passed on to needy persons. Directly through food spending - or indirectly, by supplying facilities that spend food on needy people. The delivery of food is free or for a small symbolic amount.
