Brazil: More Donations to the Vulnerable (July 2015)
On the first week of July of this year, the Group in formation of Nova Friburgo Grand Priory of Brazil of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem held the donation of clothing, medicines and geriatric material love for the Home Shelter Love of Jesus (LAJE), in the city.
The LAJE, which is an officially registered Philanthropic Organization, was founded more than 80 years ago, in July 14, 1929, by a group of people from Nova Friburgo, concerned with the constant death of beggars on the streets of the city, because of cold and hunger. The Institution of Long Permanence for Elderly (ILPI) follows the rules laid down by Brazilian ANVISA (National Agency of Sanitary Vigilance), and today houses 80 elderly residents, all in extreme need, all requiring special care. Its main objective is the physical and psychological recovery of the sheltered, taking them out from the sub-human conditions that they often find themselves in.
