Canada: Annual Celebration of Volunteers at Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank (April 2017)
The Order of St. Lazarus in Canada has enjoyed, since the consecration of the Canadian Grand Priory, the hospitality and support of the Honourable Mayor Gale Katchur of Fort Saskatchewan in order to increase its commitment to Hospitaller and voluntary work in the region.
It was with her blessing and support that the Grand Priory of Canada held the inaugural Investiture in the beautiful City of Fort Saskatchewan. Dame Gale Katchur was also awarded the Grand Cross of Merit of the Order in the inaugural investiture. During this year, the Mayor was again re-elected to her public office in a sign of public trust in their first citizen.
During the month of April, officers and members of the Canadian Grand Priory had the opportunity to experience the unwavering commitment and dedication to the City at the volunteer appreciation dinner for the local Foodbank. This was held on the 27th of April. True community spirit was the theme of the evening, a theme which is very dear to the Grand Priory due to an extensive amount of its members being committed to aid and assist in the Foodbank as a means of directly assisting the disadvantaged within the community.
